Some agents join the National Association of Realtors (NAR). If your agent is part of the NAR, they are more aware of the housing market and information about it. The NAR also holds agents to an ethics code.

When choosing your agent, you should make sure to look for qualities such as being a good communicator, thinking outside the box, being organized, and problem solves. These qualities will ensure that you feel comfortable and find a home that is right for you.

Do your research on the company you want to be with. How long have they been in the industry? What do reviews say? Do they seem like the type of people who want the best for you and not their pockets? Ask yourself this to find a perfect fit.

- Your agent should be able to meet you in person. If they are claiming to always be “out of town,” you should be aware that they could be scamming you.

- If the property owner or agent is asking for your financial information right from the start and pushing you to do things you do not feel comfortable with, do not trust them.
